When most people think of their childhood, they think of snowy winters, block parties, movie theaters, and holiday pageants. When I think of my childhood, I think of celebrating the Chinese New Year by snaking around school in a dragon, sitting in my orange bouy while my dad went snorkeling for shells, the outdoor theater where giant crabs ruled, and tons of beach parties where the neighborhood came. That's what life was like for me in the 80's growing up on Kwajalein.

My favorite way of describing the location of Kwajalein is 'say you were to draw a triangle from Hawaii, Japan, and Australia... in the bottom-righthand portion of that triangle would be the Marshall Islands

The best thing about Kwajalein is the setting. You have a sparsely vegetated island with beautiful sand beaches amidst some of the clearest waters in the world. I am all about beaches and I'd have to say this is the world's best!
