"Nature Tripping" La Carlota City by syllybabe
La Carlota City Travel Guide: 20 reviews and 28 photos
I would have been confined at home having another quiet Sunday with a good book had I not casually asked my sister if she had anything special planned for mother's day.
Since her kids dislike the fact that SARS is keeping them at home this summer, they immediately jumped at my suggestion that we head out for a day trip and have a barbecue somewhere...anywhere...the beach maybe but preferably the mountains if I had a choice.
The original destination was Caduhada Spring Resort in La Castellana...please, don't bother! (Won't even bother telling you why it wasn't worth the trip...I'll be wasting my time writing about how awful it was) When we got there, we almost just decided that the 1hr. and a half drive, with rough roads included, was just a total waste of our time but since it was only 10am, my brother in law didn't want to give up and said we can take a shortcut and go to Guintubdan in La Carlota instead.
The drive wasn't too bad...besides, a road trip beats sitting at home and it always means some opportunity to take photos.
Guintubdan can be accessed from the Bago City side and from La Carlota. The drive from La Castellana took us through La Carlota.
I have always known that the closer you are to Mt. Kanlaon, the more opportunities for trekking and hiking and I've also known that we have quite a few waterfalls up there. What I didn't know was how near, how easy to get there, and how absolutely naturally spectacular it is!
If you've read my Bacolod pages, you'll remember that I've mentioned how we have no white, sandy beaches to speak of close to where I live but now I have seen that we have other natural delights to be proud of.
Now, I can say WOW La Carlota!
- In a nutshell:Lush rainforest with many waterfalls
