This temple isn't too close to the other temples so the driver of the van took us there first. There is a huge imposing chedi in the middle and rows of buddhas all around...and nice gardens...and bridges...and food and souvenir shops...and a lying buddha on the other side. Beautiful place to take photos.

This Lord Buddha's head is covered by the roots of the tree. How it got there, they can't explain but it's pretty interesting.

We could see this main prang from Wat Mahathat and almost walked in the heat just to get closer to it but when we realized that it was way on the other side, we waited for the van to come and get us so we didn't have to endure the scorching heat just to take pictures. It was as imposing up close as it was from afar.

After doing the rounds in Chatuchak we took a couple of cabs to get to the temples. This one, suggested by Suraphon, wasn't far from the palace, if I remember right. We would have gone to the palace if we had time but we didn't because by the time we got there it must have been around 3...almost closing time. This temple has beautiful modern thai architecture with the signature gold trimmings on the windows, the roofs, and of course the buddhas.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to go inside this temple. I was just too tired from walking around on that hot, hot day. I did take this photo of the buddha outside the temple and luckily caught two birds in flight just as I snapped it.

The oldest Buddhist monument in Thailand and I think the tallest, too, at 120meters high. Again, a beautiful temple and I would have loved going around it more if it weren't for the terrible heat that day. It's in Nakom Pathom, on the way back from Damnoen Saduak to Bangkok.

These ruins are the site of the royal palace from the beginning of Ayutthaya until later a temple was built and used as a monastery. This seems to be one of the more popular temples...so many people lingering in that area...maybe because the grounds are huge.

This temple is next to a big pond with shady trees around it that made the walk around comfortable. We were dropped off by the car at Wat Phra Si Sanphet and realized how huge Ayutthaya was so we walked across the street and found a guy with a tuktuk in front of Wat Phra Ram who agreed to take us around to the temples that we wanted for 75baht each. Good thing we did because Ayutthaya is huge!

As hot as it was that afternoon when we were in Nakom Pathom, taking photos around the temple was not something to be missed. The details on this huge chedi were beautiful inside and out. We walked around the circular building and saw some monks having classes. I didn't think it was ok to take photos in there so I didn't.
