A Gracious Hostess - Bangkok
...: A Gracious Hostess

If you have a best friend who's got a spacious apartment in this city like I do, you're lucky. We had the 3 bedroom apartment to ourselves with a huge living and dining area...the pool...and it was a stone's throw away from Crepes and Co., the Ministry of Sound and Cabbages and Condoms.

On take 2 this August, Tish had moved to a new place in Ploenchit. Just a stop away from Central and definitely closer to shopping areas and closer to the BTS station, her new flat is even bigger, has 4 bedrooms, but a cozier feel. The deck's laid out neatly with new loveseat lounges and parasols. Perfect place to party!

This is the original building of the Oriental. Pretty building and we didn't have time to go inside but I don't think the rooms here are still used...maybe just function rooms?

Comparison: more expensive than average

The Oriental - Bangkok

The Oriental

I'm a breakfast person. I function best in the morning especially after a couple of cups of coffee and a hearty meal that usually gets me through all the way til dinnertime.
The Oriental's buffet spread has everything from congee to cold cuts to 6 different fruit juice flavors and rice and sausages and bacon.
Having breakfast in the sunny terrace by the river makes it doubly refreshing.
I stayed at my best friend's flat in Sukhumvit soi 12 and most likely won't need to stay in hotels as long as she's still based in Bangkok but if I would choose a hotel to stay at, I'd book at the Oriental for its easy accessibility to the ferry and the BTS.
