Seemingly a favorite of expats, they have tables out in the patio if you want your dinner al fresco or in air-conditioned comfort inside.

Restaurant Name: Lemongrass
Just across the street from the Emporium, take the side door from the cosmetics section and you'll see Lemongrass. A cozy restaurant with traditional thai decor and an attentive staff, Lemongrass is perfect for dinner with friends. We met up with Audrey and her husband and enjoyed some wine with excellent thai food.
Favorite Dish: We ordered the pomelo salad, deep fried pomfret with chili sauce, and lemongrass chicken and a green curry dish. Everything was yummy and not too heavy on the chili.

Restaurant Name: Crepes and Company
One thing I love most about Bangkok restaurants is that there is so much green around you when you walk in that you almost forget how hot it is. Crepes and Company has tables in the garden and inside the restaurant, the staff is friendly and although spoken english is limited, they always seem to understand what we say and they get our orders right :-) The best part about the restaurant is that it's just a stone's throw away from my friend's apartment in soi 12.
Favorite Dish: Crepes, bacon, french toast, coffee...all good!

Restaurant Name: Damnoen Saduak
On the water you'll see other boats passing you...some with tourists like you, others with ladies selling souvenirs and food. You can ask your boatman to stop anytime you see something interesting. The lady in the pic was selling sticky rice inside bamboo. Scott (herzog63) was telling me I shouldn't miss eating this since it's his favorite. It was good...kinda sweet, sticky rice with beans was what I got. A lot like suman in the Philippines. My favorite was coconut pancakes and the fresh fruit...especially pomelos.

Restaurant Name: Baan Khanita
There are two Baan Khanitas but we followed Ivan's strict instructions to go to the one in Sukhumvit soi 21 for better ambience...and so we did and we were definitely not disappointed. D._Pepper said it wouldn't be THAT far so from soi 12, we walked...and walked...and walked! Fortunately, it was at 7 in the evening so Dante was spared from expletives. soi 21 from 12 isn't far but from the corner of soi 21 to Baan Khanita is a quite a walk. Take a tuktuk from the corner if you want. The restaurant building is a Thai house and we made reservations for a table out in the garden.
Favorite Dish: Someone else did the ordering. Our friends met some Thai girls who helped them order authentic stuff so it was all really good. There were appetisers like...leaves...with a sweet paste and spices and peanuts and you roll them and eat them. It was good!...those cavemen sure knew how to eat healthy ;-) We had soft shell crabs and deep fried fish with that delicious chili sauce, soup...it was a lot of food and all a blur to me now but it was excellent. What surprised me the most was that for a more upscale restaurant and all that we ordered, it was still relatively cheap. Dinner for 10 including drinks and dessert wasn't more than 5500baht.

Restaurant Name: Kuang Seafood
Doesn't look like much on the outside...just your typical neighborhood seafood restaurant with fish tanks outside to display their live catch before it's cooked to your liking. When I asked Yen about where to find authentic Thai food and seafood at a place where locals eat, she was a bit hesitant to tell me about this place. Wanted to keep it a secret, eh, Yen? ;-) She was worried I might not like the place but c'mon, who doesn't like fresh seafood? I let her order her favorite dish...the one she first raved about and well...it's hard to describe except with one word...divine!
Favorite Dish: Fried crab with curry, tom yum goong, steamed fish, fresh oysters, etc. Order the fried crab with curry if you like crab. I haven't tasted anything like it. Not too heavy on the curry but looked like it was cooked with some eggs. Because it's fried, it looks and tastes deadly-laden with enough cholesterol to clog up a few arteries. Note the fully satisfied pose of the guy caught on candid cam

Restaurant Name: Sumo
Quick and cheap japanese food in a quiet corner in MBK's ground floor. Yen took me here when I needed a bite to eat before hurrying home to pack for the flight home. Nothing exceptional but satisfying meals. If Japanese food is expensive where you are especially sushi, you can indulge here for less $$'s.
