Boracay Shores: Local Hospitality At Its Finest

  • Boracay Shores is a 6 bedroom guesthouse right behind Sea Wind and owned by one of the Tirols as well.
Abet and Diane Jimenez are gracious hosts. They have a house behind the guesthouse and they live here most of the year with their beautiful twin daughters.
Diane is a chef but she only cooks for special guests:-). The guesthouse doesn't have a restaurant but you can ask them to prepare breakfast or anything that you buy fresh from Talipapa (the market)
Although the guesthouse is across the road and you don't have a view of the beach, you have instant access to, in my opinion, the best part of white beach, which is in the stretch where Sea Wind is.

Unique Qualities: If you want to feel at home with the locals and get insiders' knowledge, hang out with Diane or Abet.

  • Very very close to Friday's is this blue and green house with 2 guestrooms for rent with glass sliding doors that fully open to give you an indescribable view of the sea, sand, and blue skies during the day and the stars at night.

  • Hotel type resort in my favorite area of Boracay. Rooms can get a bit pricey...about $80 off peak or $120 during peak months. The view and the quiet in this part of the beach may make it worth the price for some.

Boracay Regency: Where it's happening all the time
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • Boracay Regency is centrally located in Station 2. Closest to places to eat and hang out are right next door to my favorite sunset place, Charlh's bar.
If you want hotel comfort in an island location, Boracay Regency has great rooms and hot and cold running water all the time. Prince Hendrik's Cafe serves good hotel-type buffet breakfasts.
They also have a dance club if I remember correctly but don't take my word for it because I haven't been inside.
Again, this is a hotel accommodation and normally, I wouldn't opt to stay here if I were planning to "be away from it all" because it takes away a lot of the so called island setting.
It's a great resort with great facilities, though, so if you're with your family and you have little kids, they will enjoy the pool and other conveniences.

    Tirol & Tirol: Beachfront Cottages
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • A next door neighbor of Boracay Regency, Tirol and Tirol Cottages blend perfectly with the beach setting...nipa huts with a veranda in front and a hammock...a book, an ice cold drink, cool breeze...you get the picture I'm sure.

    SeaWind: My favorite...
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • SeaWind is special for many reasons...and somehow, I always end up lounging in their cabanas whether or not I'm a guest in their resort.
You get to choose from cottages right on the beach near their new pool (was under construction when I was there in August) or hotel type rooms away from the crowds...not that there are ever any real crowds here except during the busy season.
Breakfasts are always good and most of the time you'll be sitting in a table close to the owners who always make you feel at home.
In this area you get the best of Boracay...the peace and quiet you need when you want it and when you feel like joining the party crowd, take your time walking on the beach and hit Cocomangas just 5 mins down.

Nami Beach Resort: The Best View of White Beach
  • Tip Rating:
  • There are many ways to enjoy Boracay. For some it's to hang out on the beach during the day and party at night, for others it's the perfect getaway from the city...
On one trip I took, the plan was to find a place on the island with the best view. After hiking through untrodden trails and walking up hundreds of steps, I found a place up on the cliff above Diniwid beach that was, at that time last year in July, being renovated.
It would be very difficult to describe what it is like from up there but I'm going to try...
Nami Beach Resort has suites perched perfectly on the side of the cliff overlooking the beach and you are afforded a breathtaking unobstructed view of the whole length of the island from that vantage point.
All the rooms are cozily done with parquet wood floors and huge glass windows and, the ultimate treat, a jacuzzi in every suite right on the terrace so you can soak and take in the view.
Among all the accommodation tips I've mentioned, this is the only one I haven't stayed at because, as I said, it wasn't done when I went there but from the time they reopened in the last quarter of 2002, the resort has been featured in several travel articles.
Without a doubt, I will be booked here on my next trip to Boracay.
One bedroom suites go for $150/room/night during the peak season and maybe about $30 less from July-September.

Unique Qualities: Because it is away from the white beach, accessibility may be a bit difficult for those who want to go out partying at night because walking in the dark on Diniwid isn't exactly what you want to do.
There is a solution, though...invite your friends to your suite for a party!
