Jutting boldly to the east side of Puget Sound, it forms the south side of Elliott Bay, Seattles broad bustling harbor Its presence close by the comings and goings of generations of marine commerce has made it a long sought-after daymark.

  • Alki Point beach
The beach enjoys minus tides that reveal a wide expanse of sandy beach. Partly protected by a seawall, Alki Beach is a summer park destination. The park begins at Alki Point and extends 2.5 miles to Duwamish Head, the mouth of the Duwamish River. Duwamish comes from a Chinook word duwampsh, meaning "many-colored river," and was one of the first names proposed for the city that is now Seattle.

  • Swiss Chalet?
While walking along the shoreline, we came across this most unusual building, nestled between the hotels. It was fully adorned with flowers and greenery. We couldn't tell if it was a diner or private residence.

  • Sunset over Seattle
After having a meal of fish and chips we went out on the pier to watch the sunset. It was an awesome sight watching the sun go down, it's last rays of light hitting the Seattle skyscrapers, while the moon hovered over Seattle amongst the array of colours spread across the evening sky.

This pic was taken as we walked along the shoreline and the last glimmer of sun had disappeared revealing the full moon in all it's glory shimmering on the calm waters below.
