DAYTONA BEACH

by Carnation - last update: Oct 10, 2002

Daytona Beach is world famous with it's 23 miles of white sands. Here they started car races in the early 1900's and the speeds achieved in those days were quite spectacular, with a top speed of 57 mph in 1902. It is here that Malcolm Campbell achieved the last land speed record of 276 mph driving the famous Bluebird.

Visit the NASCAR racing at Daytona International Speedway where there is motorcycle racing and go kart racing. Try deep sea fishing or play championship golf. See every corvette model ever made and visit the museums. Have great fun playing professional sports and entertainment or pay a visit to the theater.

Here in Daytona there is so much to see and do that you will never get bored. Alas I only spent one day here on the famous beach but I hope to return one day to explore further.

I am so glad to hear that there are 5 miles of beach set aside for people who do not want to compete with cars on the beach! The white beaches of Florida are so pretty.
