Durango: Gateway to the Southwest

by cloudhopper - last update: Sep 11, 2002

I have lived in this small mountain for 12 years, and excpet for the occasional bite of the travel bug, I couldn't imagine living anywhere else. Durango (and the surrounding area) is the perfect place to visit to forget about the city for a time. The nearest large city, Albuquerque, is more than three hours away by the fastest route, Grand Junction is more than four hours away, and Denver is over a seven hour drive through the mountains. But it is not the physical separation from cities that people find most appealing. The small town atmosphere gives people a mental break from noise, traffic, crime, pollution, and other big city annoyances.

My band used to play at Farquart's back in late 70's and we loved it. Does Toby still own it? Nice page, good memories.
