Luxembourg is the capital city of the small country of Luxembourg. The town itself is counts roughly 100.000 inhabitants. This number is multiplied several time during week days by workers commuting from neighbouring cities and countries. The country of Luxembourg itself being very small, a lot of people actually commute from France, Germany or Belgium every day to work for one banking institution or other.
The city has a very efficient bus system and makes full use of the Park+Ride concept. If you drive into Luxembourg, you will be better of following the P+R signs, parking the car there and taking the bus than trying to get anywhere inside the town.
Geographically speaking, the city of Luxembourg is situated on a plateau that is split by the valley formed by the small river Pétrusse, at the bottom of which is the Grund neighbourhood, full of trendy bars and restaurants and extremely scenic. |
