Kew, located in West London, tube zone 3, is home to the Royal Botanic Gardens, also known as Kew Gardens. The gardens house an impressive collection of plants and flowers in one of the most amazing parks of the London metropolis.
The Royal Botanic Garden are much more than a garden. They are a research centre where scientists label, examine, document everything to do with plant life. The gardens own seeds to some of the rarest plants on the planet in an attempt to act as a green library and save some of the green kingdom from extinction.
In addition to the plants on display outside, the Gardens have several greenhouses, each with its special temperature and humidity to re-create climates from other parts of the world to preserve plants that would not survive in England. One such is the Palm House, hot and humid, that houses tropical plants on the ground floor and alguae in the basement.
- Pros:Beautiful and relaxing
- Cons:The price of entry: £6.50
- In a nutshell:The plant kingdom in a nutshell
