Packing Lists: Wet weather gear essential
  • Tip Rating:

  • Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Remember that the weather in Brittany can be cold and rainy at any time of the year. Bring a raincoat and a warm jumper, just in case. You might never use them but you will be delighted to have them is the weather turns nasty.
Forget about bringing an umbrella. The region is windy and you are quite likely to end up with torn and bent pieces of cloth and metal the first time you take the umbrella out. A good raincoat is much better.

Toiletries & Medical Supplies: Have sunglasses with you, even in winter. If the weather is sunny and you are near the sea, the water's reflection can be painful even when the sun is not too strong.

Photo Equipment: All the standard equipment. You can find film very easily everywhere. As for camera equipment, the main towns have everything you'd want at a reasonable price.

Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: In summer, the beach gear is essential. You wouldn't want to miss the opportunity to enjoy the sun while lying on some of the finest sand ever.
A good pair of walking shoes is also something to take, even to go to the beach in some places. Brittany is an old moutain range and slopes are steep.

I lived in Bretagne as a little girl and went back as a "jeune fille au pair". I miss the cidre and wish someone would make it-locally- in the US (near Santa Fe!)!

Good page about Bretagne! I have one, too. The English word for "genęt" is "broom" (I've found it in a dictionary).
