Sydney is the best known of Australian cities, if not the capital. Located on the East coast of the country, in the state of New South Wales, Sydney enjoys fairly warm weather.
The town is built around its harbour. The town centre, where shops and businesses are located, is on the South side of it, while the North is mostly residential suburbs.
One thing that is striking, compared to major cities in Europe, is the laid back and relaxed atmosphere of Sydney. Is it the sun, the beaches nearby? I don't know but I like it.
Sydney harbour is the largest natural harbour in the world. from the centre, you can cross to the north side of it by road via the world famous Harbour Bridge or by taking a ferry boat from Circular Quay.
The size of the harbour means that it is an ideal setting for all sorts of water sports, in particular sailing. And the people who live there do take advantage of it. On a nice day, the harbour is full of motor and sailing boats of all size.

I agree with you on the Taxis. I carry a map when I get into a Taxi now! Sometimes I think they just want to take you the long way...!
Lovely stuff. Sydney is a long flight to Europe as well. More's the pity. I couldn't agree more about the cab drivers.
