This city of a million or so inhabitants is spread out, so it feels calm. It has a great coast line and good public transport for those who need it. The weather is unpredictable, but it does not take away from the joy of the place. The Blackpool-esque Luna Park by the sea in St. Kilda may give the impression of 50's England, but the rest of St. Kilda is not stuck there by any means. The CBD is laid out in the easy grid manner, so even tourists should not get lost. If you have a chance to go to the MCG, it is a must, the atmosphere is great, even for the losing English cricket team. |
| | Cricket anyone? As we know Australians are good at most sports. Somehow the life style should predict that! Melbourne is the sporting capital of this country I understand. If you have a chance to see a sporting tournament in this city, DO! I was lucky enough to see the cricket match of the 2002 Ashes in the MCG. People are so nice and friendly and I enjoyed the day immensely. A definite recommendation. |
