A month in the land of wats.

by kimmo_v - last update: Aug 15, 2003

"Hey, there must be some naked monks around here!"
We spend a month in Thailand at summer 2003.
We flew from Helsinki via Frankfurt to Bangkok. After few days in Bangkok we took a flight to Koh Samui. In Koh Samui we were about 4 days, and then headed to Koh Phangan. In K. Phangan we were over a week in different parts of the Island: Haad Rin(Full Moon Party), Haad Son and Baan Tai Koh.

From K. Phangan we tooked a ferry to Suratthani, took a night train to Bangkok, spend few hours in Bangkok(and i managed to get 1000baht fine for littering...) and took another nigh train to Chiang Mai.
In Chiang Mai we were 3 nights, and took a day train back to Bangkok where we spend 3 our last days.

We most liked Koh Phangan and Chiang Mai. Koh Phangan is much more relaxing place compared to Samui and Chiang Mai is lovely small city compared the traffic and smog of Bangkok.

Pros:"Easy to travel around, nice islands in the south."
Cons:"Traffic in Bangkok, lefthandside traffic is weird..."
