Bako Things to Do Tips by kimmo_v

Proboscis monkeys at Bako National Park, Borneo. These monkeys cant be seen anywhere else, so try to spot them in the jungle. The best way to find them, is sit down for a while, and keep total silence. When you hear some noise above in the trees, you will most likely see those cool looking fellows with enormous floppy nose.

This picture is from Bako national park.
This is a our "hut", that has two individual rooms and shared facilities and kitchen.
Houses are not in top-condition, but very good value, though.
There are only few houses for accomodation, so book well advance to make sure you get one.
Also possibility for outdoor camping, but i would consider about doing that, because of those macaque monkeys. Those monkeys steal anything available.

Borneo and the rainforests is the must!

I was in Bako National Park, which is excellent, and very easy to reach.
There is 2728 hectares unspoiled rainforest, and clearly marked jungle-trekking routes.


There are a lot of animals there, especially macaques and proboscis monkeys, that has a huge nose(which are lovely!!). Macaques are very agressive, so dont feed them even if they beg you.
Beard-pigs are funny looking creatures, that comes in to your lawn to find something to eat.
Monitor-lizzards are big things(about 1,5meters long), but they are not harmful for peoples.

The macaques steal everything, so dont leave any items anywhere, not even for a second. They are very quick, and everything goes(candels, handbags, food, drinks, hats, backpacks, ...).
