What to say about North Clarendon.. Well.. it is mainly a farming community just on the outskirts of Rutland. The regional airport is located there and there is a wonderful old mill and covered bridge nearby. The owners of the mill are working on getting it and the bridge declared a national historic site.
For all the road bicyclists.. well there are some wonderful rides in the area. One of our favorites is the Shrewsbury loop.. approximately 18.5 miles of which 13 is up hill.. Takes you up to Pierce's store and then down the back way to Rt. 103. Another great ride is over to Proctor (marble capital of Vermont). This ride is fairly flat with a couple of rolling hills.
There are a couple of hiking trails around and the AT/LT runs through the area. Can visit the Swinging Bridge right off RT 103 or do a through hike on the AT/LT to White Rocks to the south in Wallingford or the Inn at Long Trail to the North on RT 4.
During the winter there is X-C skiing..snowshoeing and of course the all time favorite winter exercise..show shoveling.....
