Maybe I felt it coming...

The big Lay Off

I worked in Silican Valley 15 1/2 years for a software company called Micro Focus, whose corporate headquarters are located in Newbury, UK. The work was demanding, but the salary & benefits were generous, and most of my colleagues were great people.

20% of the staff was let go in April, 2006 to correct a number of problems.... including me.

Relocation

Santo Domingo is my new (temporary?) hometown. The cost of living suits my early retirement budget. The flora, fauna, people and beaches are beautiful. More to follow...

From these, I would go to Auckland and explore New Zealand, great destination, where we are planning to go in 2007

Thanks for the birthday greetings! I'd say Australia for sure, though I hear Cape Town is also pretty cool. But Sydney and Melbourne are by far my fave cities 'down south'!
