Hiwasa lies an hour plus from Tokushima and is a quiet town, not a city, along the sea. It is where Japanese on Shikoku go when they want to go to the beach and relax for a day. It is known for its beautiful shrine, castle, beaches, and the sea turtles that lay their eggs on the beach. |
| | Sea Turtles Hiwasa is also known for sea turtles, and has a museum dedicated to them. They even have a sea turtle festival featuring characters from a popular Japanese fairy tale. |
