The original American City

Admiral Barry
Although Boston can compete with Philadelphia for the title I've given it, Philadelphia is and always has been a bustling city of great importance to the US. It was here that independence was declared, and Philadelphia was the capital of the country for the first 25 years of our existence, some of the most turbulent in our history. The residents of Philadelphia are of course much more diverse, and the city is a living metropolis, with all the trimmings, but they take care to preserve the history of the city. One place you can see this in the Italian Market (Basically Little Italy), where they have essentially maintained a strong tradition that probably would have faded without this sense of preservation.

This city is often underrated, or gets an undeserved bad rap for crime and urban blight. But if you like older things and history, you can't beat Philly.
Liberty Bell

History

History is all around Philadelphia, so much you don't even know where to start, but I would recommend here.... The Liberty Bell!
