The State of Victoria brings to my mind the Great Ocean Rd. and that is what these pages will concentrate on. Expect primarily a visual experience, rather than a literary. OI'm sure poems have been written about the natural splendours of the region, but we took pictures. |
| | Rural areas Large sections of the state are quite rural. A little sense of adventure will help you explore beyond what the tour books want you to see, look to my off the beaten path pages for more information. You never know what you'll find, like koalas in the wild. We did, to our surprise. See my travelogues for pictures. |
| | Best begin in the morning The Great Ocean Rd is quite long, and not easy to drive because it winds and curves so much. If you want to see most of it in one day, you will need to start in the early hours of the morning. We stopped at a random lookout called the Crags locatred about 15 kilometers west of Port Fairy. From there you could find an information kiosk which will be able to provide you with maps and general or seasonal advice. |

| Pros: | "The Great Ocean Rd is some of the best scenery anywhere." | | Cons: | "The 12 Apostles is just so crowded" | | In A Nutshell: | "You must see the Great Ocean Rd." |

Cmdr_Biggles Sun May 21, 2006 04:31 UTC The Crags is not in the Great Ocean Road, which ends at Curdie Vale. 2. The c/park can take 2 4WDs+caravans+4 cars. 3. Car access+tents OK on the high 'terrace' offering a grand "room with a view". —garyh | Daja123 Tue Dec 16, 2003 05:26 UTC Great page Dave! Unique marvellous view.
