Yorkey's Knob

Yorkey's Knob is a small town about 15 minutes north of Cairns where its possible to relax and unwind. There aren't expensive restaurants or souvenier shops. The jet set bypasses Yorkjey's Knob and the crowds of beautiful people just aren't there. What you have is endless miles of empty white beach, the ability to take part in the Cairns excursions, like diving, and the sights and smells of Australia. This isn't for everyone for, while I preferred it to Cairns, my wife definitely did not. There are fewer luxuries and less to do. nevertheless, I highly recommend a day or two up here just enjoying the beach.

Pros and Cons

Pros:Quiet, relaxing and endless beach
Cons:Quite small without many things to entertain you
In a nutshell:Come here to relax, when you're relaxed go to Cairns

only in Australia would you find a place called Yorkeys Knob LOL it looks lovely and a lot less hectic than Carns

I stayed at Palm Cove a few years ago. Sounds like its a real metropolis compared to Yorkey's Knob, it actually had quite a few shops, several restaurants and a couple of bars. But the beach was the same - just glorious.
