My wife and I stopped in Perpignan while we were making a road trip through Catalonia. Although the city didn't truly impress me as a modern wonder of the world, it did seem to give a really good sense of what daily life in Southern France is like.

You won't find here so much in the way of attractions as you would in the more trafficked parts of the southern coast. You will find, however, the good food and well dressed people that make France famous, with the taste of Catalonia that isn't so famous.

    I had very similar impressions... well, I stayed at the seaside a few km from Perpignan.
