Romania has a wealth of attractions for a relatively small country; huge forests, abundant wildlife, mountains ranging from karst cave networks to rocky alpine peaks, black sea beaches, the Danube delta and dozens of historical ruins and other sites of interest. The people, once you learn to avoid the scammers and beggers, are open, friendly and helpful to strangers. For me it is a country that has got under my skin more than any other I have visited. I hope that my site will give a positive and informative view of Romania. |
| | Bucharest - once called 'The Paris of the East' The Parliament building (formerly 'The People's Palace'), Ceasescu's monstrous folly. Megalomania on a grand scale, well worth a visit. See my Bucharest page for photos of the interior. Bucharest unfortunately has a run-down, rather grim feel about. Much of it's once elegant architecture is in a state of disrepair. It does have a character of it's own however, that will either grow on you or severely *** you off. |
Valley of the Stag Hiking in the Bucegi Mountains, one of Romania's many amazing areas of natural beauty. | | |
