North Berwick is a small fishing village on the very tip of the Firth of Forth.

Its a delightful location - you feel that you are truly seeing the open sea before you (the coastline heads south and England from this point). Two lovely beaches either side of the harbour walls, clifftop paths in both directions, the hills and Forth islands to the west. There's the ruins of a church, the North Berwick Law (a tree covered hill that rises imposingly over the town slightly inland and which was used to watch over town and sea alike) - a tough 1 hour's walk and hike away. Tantallon Castle is approx 4 miles to the east.

Spend the day exploring the town, walk to Tantallon Castle (in part along the coastal walk - if this is too hard, you can walk along the road), head off to the North Berwick Law on the way back from Tantallon and then treat yourself and buy fish & chips from the Turkish chippie on the High St (about halfway along on the way back towards the station) and go sit on the edge of the putting green next to the beach - the best way to enjoy fish & chips.

Finally visited NB after passing up the A1 many times. Well worth the visit and snow was just closing in . Nice pics - Melbourne and Vic not bad either.
