'Lawrence of Arabia' country and regarded as one of the natural highlights of the Middle East.
It's a series of parallel valleys in the sandy desert separated by giant granite, basalt and sandstone mountains that rise up to 800 metres straight out of the wadi floor and are broken by ravines, crags and gorges. It's an excellent area for rock-climbing but the majority of visitors stop in on an organised day trip. |
| | It's totally geared towards tourism, althoiugh there is little option in the way of accommodation and food, hence the daytrippers. Rum itself is a small village built specifically to deal with the influx of visitors and all money raised goes towards building the village and its services. |
