Nothing is straightforward in Israel, and Nazareth highlights this. The 'capital' of the Israeli-Arab population in the north, it is 100% Israeli-Arab. The city suffers from under-investment by the State. But within the city, there is also the problem of the relationship between Muslims (60%) and Christians (40%). In spite of it being the home of Jesus, there are more mosques than churches. A modern, bustling city, Nazareth is not quite what tourists expect! |

angiebabe Fri Nov 9, 2007 20:48 UTC All my pics home in Oz-nice to see yrs but likewise think the main church we visitd was the Annunciation-very catholic of course(which came in after the Canons of the early church)but interesting to see the sights& spots surrounding relevant to the bible. | pengembara Tue Feb 21, 2006 00:05 UTC I think the site reviewed is called the Church or Basilica of the Annunciation not the Ascension. | Gili_S Mon Jul 12, 2004 10:32 UTC You are right, I also think the that this city potential is much higher, but it is to the locals and the state to make it even nicer and better | Sharrie Mon Feb 9, 2004 06:58 UTC It's not what I expected either. |
