It may be part of Greater Tel Aviv, but as its on the other side of the Ayalon (main north/south freeway) it's off the beaten track as far as I am concerned :) (VT Sharon will kill me if she reads this).
Not an obvious place to head for as far as tourism is concerned, but you'll certainly see it. Ramat Gan is developing into a major business centre and any number of high-rise office blocks are appearing - including the tallest building in the Middle East. As it sits aside the Ayalon, impossible to miss (and the buildings can be seen on the approach from the airport) and is lit up like a Christmas tree (!) at night. Some tourists may make use of the night time 'services' among the flash high rise... And even among the hi-tec architecture and fancy new cafes and restaurants, you never get away from knowing you are in the Middle East - some of the best long established felafel and humus bars are to be found here.
