Luggage And Bags: I guess is better to bring a hard suitcase with a good, safe lock. However make it easy to open it yourself. Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Asuncion is unbearably hot (up to 95 F/ 35 C) and humid during summertime (January-February). The rest of the year is quite confortable. Nevertheless, temperatures could change in matter of minutes during the winter. Bring lots of cottons (or even better buy them here) and if you visit from May-October, bring a light jacket.
The best way to enjoy Asuncion is by foot so bring anything comfortable for them.
Toiletries & Medical Supplies: You can replace any of your toiletries while in Asuncion but don' t count on it if you travel to more remote, simple towns on the interior.
Same aplies to medication. In fact, you could get many prescription medicatios without one
Photo Equipment: Again, Asuncion carries almost everything and prices are similar to Europe and USA. If you are a profesional and need special kinds of film, better bring your own. Just in case
