There many things to see in Amsterdam, the red light district is actually nice, but wait till the sun goes down to get the best experience. A tour through the grachten (canals) can be nice, if you can standing sitting in a boat full of overweighted tourist. Off season the ride is nicer, not so many people. Het vondelpark is a nice park to stroll through or sit in the grass and watch the people go by.
