Le Suffren (Hotel & Marina): Mauritius best hotel?
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • Excellent hotel, good rooms and finally for our vacation there the best beds we had so far. Food was excellent like a real good hotel should have.

Unique Qualities: You can go by a private boat directly into town. And very quite and peacefull situated! A real good one to be at!
Influenced by a nautical theme and inspired by Pierre Andre de Suffren, an intrepid navigator on the East India route who moored his fleet in Port Louis harbour in 1783, Le Suffren offers both business travellers and holiday makers a unique location on the capital's waterfront. Its 100 modern bedrooms, white sandy novel beach, trendy concept bar,'avant-gardiste' restaurant and lively terrace on the marina appeal to those looking for a viby alternative. Ideally located within walking distance of the central business district and government offices, Le Suffren is also within easy reach of the various cultural and tourist sites in Mauritius.

Unique Qualities: Very nice vieuw on the sea, and like other motels/hotels in Mahebourg close to the airport (10 km)

Mauritius is being invaded by tourists. I lived there 28 yrs ago. I am shocked at the pollution: places like Flat Island are being polluted by tourists This is not a good sign. These islands should be off limits as they were a long time ago.

Interesting to read about the ecological damage. Most visitors are completely oblivious to these things, but I think a lot about these types of issues as well, although it can be upsetting at times. Thanks for sharing your experiences of Mauritius!
