Things To Do: Blue Mountains - NSW
  • Tip Rating:
  • Very nice scenery. The lookouts on several points are just breath taking!
Several spots mentioned underneath are a must to see.

For birdwatching there are several spots to try:

    - At Evans Lookout Superb Lyrebird and Origma (2 tame birds at the parking area). When you drive a bit back towards Blackheath you could locate Red-browed Treecreeper and Gang-gang Cockatoo.
    - Wentworth Falls has on the parking several tame Origma, this is 5 km east of Katoomba.
    - At Paddy’s Lookdown you could find Bell miners and Yellow-tailed Black-Cockatoos.
    - At the "3 sisters" at Katoomba, you have Origma.
    - A good spot for Spotted Quail-trush is Wollemi National Park, at the junction of the road to Upper Colo and the track to Bilpin, this species react well on tape. Another spot is beyond the Queen Victoria Hospital.
    - Bluegum Swamp (in Winmalee) on the way to Katoomba (Red-browed Treecreeper, Origma, Pilotbird (especially by call) and Superb Lyrebird there). At the main track you could find Eastern Shrike-tit, both Red-browed and White-throated Tree-creepers, Origma's, Fan-tailed Cuckoo and White-browed Scrubwrens. Also Pilotbird here.
    - Pierces Pass it's on the (23 km beyond Bilipin) Richmond to Lithgow road and its signposted. It the spot for Pilotbird and Origma. Take at the parking at the picknick area the footpath down the hill, and at the start you could find the Origma. Just before the creek there is also a spot fore Pilotbird and Beautiful Firetail and Crescent Honeyeater. Origma and Pilotbird react both well on tape. Also Chestnut-rumped Hylacola could be found here.
    - Lewin's Rail could be possible in the swamp at Catalina Park at Katoomba
    - If spotlighting otherwise you could go to Mount Rivervieuw where Powerful Owl can be found, another spot seems to be Springwood Creek (near Faulconbridge)
    - Jenolan Caves for Greater Soory owl, asdk at the Rangers Station!

Most of these locations are also good for sightseeing!

Directions: From Sydney a 1.5 hour drive, it’s about 105 km west of Sydney. Drive out of Sydney to Parramatta. The M4 Motorway starts at Strathfield and goes via Lapstone into the Blue Mountains (A toll applies at the Sydney end of the M4).

Things To Do: Sydney - NSW
  • Tip Rating:
  • What should you tell about a city where everything is already told over.
I visited of course all well known places, had a harbour cruise and visited the zoo.
But I can recommend strongly some not well known places like Maroubra Life Savings Club (Maroubra Point), just fantastic cliffs here and queit beaches.
And Eping and Irrawong road also described here are worth a visit as they are relativly unknown locations for foreigners!

    Things To Do: North Epping
  • Tip Rating:
  • At Epping North at Devlin’s Creek, Lane Cove National Park, Sydney, you can find the resident Powerful Owls. This is near the Macquarie University. To get there leave Epping north along Norfolk Road, at the T-junction with Boundary Road, turn left and park and park at the turn-around at the dead end. Walk trough the boom gate, turn left past Whale Rock, search for a small footpath going down (left) the embankment en then after 500 metres across the stream and look in the trees on the left. This is a excellent area to walk in the centre of Sydney. It's a kinda of rainforest!

    Things To Do: Irrawong Road
  • Tip Rating:
  • This is a very nice boardwalk in centre Sydney and a very nice place to go there!

This is at Sydney north at Warriewood (just off Pittwater Rd). At Jacksons Rd near a shopping mall. At these wetlands are very nice to see and the boardwalk is just superb!

You keep on amazing me with your tips (with or without pictures, they are well taken care off). Ilja wil al wel naar Sydney, maar dat heeft voornamelijk met Nemo te maken - hahaha
