My world, the world of travel................

by JustinJansen - last update: Mar 20, 2009

Travel the world and experience Discovery Channel

Mauritius September 2004
I want to thank all the people who visited my page this year, and support me in making this page!

IN 2006 I was able to visit Together with Danitsja Australia and Malaysia. As i'm busy with writting for a book I hardly find time to update my pages, but I uploaded at least some photographs now on the Australian pages.

I uploaded some details on my page but more will follow as soon I can create some time. Hope you have a look and will give me some suggestions. Some as Iandsmith helped me much with my poor English?. ļ
I still have pretty much photographs and memories at home, but due some activities on Bird-watching, writing articles, and even working on a book, and visiting musea in the whole Netherlands I?m behind everything. Also my biggest hobby Danitsja and once in a while in the wild watching birds also takes some time. So I?m not bored at all?..

Birdwatching

People mostly think it is a sort of secret society travelling around, and have only one thing in their heads.... birds. This is of course partly true, but the main focus goes further than simply birds. It is also related to the whole nature aspect of a certain country, as well as culture and infra structure. As bird 9.200 species inhabits the whole world, your knowledge doesn¡¦t stop at the door step, but gets further to desolate islands where most theories where developed to the origin of species by either Wallace ore Darwin (depends on who you give the credits).
Dream location for me are the Tuomoto archipelago for example. Beautiful scenery with some good birds. It brings the best in me above.
Many bird species in the world are threatened and facing extinction, mainly due to habitat destruction or introduced feral animals, like rats, goats and sheep! Birds on islands suffer greatly due to this.
Most trips are spent in harsh conditions, on the most beautiful remote places, where the country¡¦s best side can be seen!
As accompanying photographs show, diving, snorkelling etc is also fun and one time, I will surely go for it. I have already tried the coral reefs in Australia, Thailand and the Maldives Islands so some nice reefs were already visited.
Bird watching is also an escape for me from daily life! At the moment I working for the Dutch Government in water management and the hobby take my thoughts away, and make my head clean for a new day!
Other bird watchers here as far I aware off here are David Daniels, Steve Davies, Bernard Scott and Kay
.

Vt and me..........

I see it as a large secret community with traveling lads from all over the world, with each their own will to see at least something of the world. Every one seems to have other interest and nobody looks strange in certain traveling habits from the other.
From my good mate Mocca I learned about this site, and I travelled with him twice towards Australia! Also Nathalie I learned to know via this site and the first weekend of August we met and spent a weekend at Aachen, Germany. Also a lot of friends are added to my list, and I have lot of respect for some members who travel ore constantly answering questions in the various forums. Like our legend Jennifer!
I see many dreamt of locations here visualized with pictures, and that keeps me going to travel!
Boys and girls (hope we all don?t grow up forever) keep on travelling, and keep on sharing the nice stories!
Also a kind VT member I met due that I known here from Vt isAngela we had a fun meeting end of november 2004, after stalking each other for an half year already:-).
Other good mates of mine are my old classmate Rob and off course my very kind friend Sanne . And my sister Rachel and her good friend Saskia also became member here.
They all make it worth to revisit the site again and again! And the conversations with Georgina are ver important for me!
But the best of VT is that I known and meet my beloved girlfriend here, my sweet Danitsja and we a luckily now since 19 september together. And still going very strong.
Also I enjoy really the stories told by Chris and my contacts with Nicky.
After all VT is a moving intresthing world!

About me

I was born in Holland on 15 September 1974 in the second wettest autumn ever in Holland, and still many times I still get wet of the rain when I step outside here in my home country!

Due my study I moved a bit through The Netherlands and I lived at Velp, Arnhem, Vlieland, Delfzijl and Vriescheloo, and at the moment I?m still at the roots again: Broekhuizenvorst!

The only thing that reminds me on travelling in my youth is the wish to get to Australia, but further I had no hesitation to get abroad! But now after several trips I?m hooked, and I?m stunned how beautiful the world can be, but also how cruel and unequally it is?. I?m really fascinated by the words and the pictures told by other companions, who travel abroad for birds and other business. I hope I will travel a lot in the near future with my beloved girlfriend Danitsja that is also and VT addict and we met luckily due this website (thanks staff for giving us traveller a forum).

Just a few visited locations

Thailand

I visited this country now 4 times, although two times where a stop-over from Australia. Two times I visited large parts of the country. In 2003 I visited the southern part, and in 2004 a combined centre and northern part. But many parts I still have to visit. Beautiful country, and very nice people!
In the photo: Bird watching Khao Sam Roi Yot, I visited it both times, and both times I was stunned by the landscape! Very scenic spot!

Blue Mountains 2002
Australia

I spent in total about 9 months in Australia, and live for 6 months here in 1997/98. The land is so stunning, one day you walk in a desert, the next day in snow, then in a rainforest. I can say I¡¦m an addict and I can advise to everyone take it on you¡¦re hitlist, and visited it a least once, and take youre time!
In the photo: You see the view in October 2002 at the Blue Mountains (just outside Sydney) and you see at breath taking landscape!
Sweden

Although just visited mostly short, I have a sort of affection with this country. I been now 5 over there, and I really enjoyed it, Very friendly people and surprising landscapes. All the reasons of these short visits where bird watching and all the trips where highly successful, but not for foto's ore any tips :-(
In the photo: You see me standing by our crashed van on 1 April 2002 somewhere in the centre of Sweden, when we tried to hunt down some transmitted Wolves.
me in sweden 2002
Due to time lack, my time is mainly spent of course working for the next trip? And I write a lot about birds, I currently working on some large articles and I also editor of a large regional magazine! That is the reason mainly that my pages are updated to less. Also when travelling in vain for birds, you are focussing on that vary matter and forget to take pictures of the landscape and important building etc. I will try next time ok??

As far as flight concerned I flew by now 71 times, so I no longer scared of flying, sitting on boats on sea is a different story............

So as you understand this site is under constant construction, and once time (and mood ;-)) I give it an other try! Be patient it will be there all one day?.. .

All the best and enjoy life,

Justin

Hi mate. Thanks. It was another day in the saddle. Celebrated with a tomato with my pasta in the evening in freezing east Turkey. Take care.
