Fisherman's Wharf - Lots of souvinir shops, lots of people, lots of noise and some seals. Now, I know a lot of people will warn you to stay away from here, but I have to tell you the truth, I love it. I love to come here to just people watch and eat the delicious hot dog! Besides I love the seals at Pier 39, even if it does smell a bit!

Here is a picture of said seals, which languish all day by Pier 39. What a life it must be. But then I don't think I'd be very keen to swim in the chilly waters that surround the bay area. Been there done that at Stinson Beach. Brrrrrr

I'm still not 100% on whether Pier 39 & seals are a tourist trap or a must see activity so I understand what you've said. S.F. sure does have its own microclimate, only been there in winter & it was warmer than anywhere but L.A. & San Diego! | Knoto Sat Dec 13, 2003 14:42 UTC
