Once upon a time, in the early 70's
when there were no Jumbo 747s nor Airbuses,
some BA-VC10s, French Caravelles, Lockhead ??? and McDonell DC9s.
that's before the 707's.
For South Africans to travel to the Far East of Australia was to fly JNB (johannesburg) by British Airways to Seychelles, then onwards to Colombo - Sri Lanka, from there one had A stopover to connect onto the London to Hong Kong Flight.
the VC10's were a sleek plave with engines at its back
I was fortunate enough to be able to stopover twice on my return flight to Johannesburg from Colombo.
What memories ???
Tropical Islands, Coco de Mers, white sandy beaches, fresh fish, charming people, Mini mokes, Tourists hotels
