Getting to Gatineau, Quebec

The Outaouais (Ottawa) River separates the two provinces of Quebec and Ontario within the National Capital Region, obviously languages variations and either side of the river operating from different Provincial Governments, but co-exist they do

For us on the Anglophone side of the Ottawa River,
to cross the MAPeC bridges does provide us a Francophone lifestyle, plsu buying wine and beer after hours from Depanneurs

Macdonald Catrier Bridge the first bridge on the east from the 416 highway past DFAIT and Ismaili Imamat, across the river then straight ahead for Route 5 or turn right to get to Route 50 that takes one to Laval/Montreal
The Royal Alexandra Bridge, is the Interprovincial Bridge is a steel truss cantilever bridge. What was once for CPR trains but also had a track for local electric trolley service between Ottawa and Hull, is not cars and pedestrian on the west deck is for pedestrians with a good view of the Parliament , Cnal Locks and Museum of History
Portage bridge is a continuation of the Wellington St past National Archives, the bridge cross over Victoria Island with the Old Mill on the right then the road continues under Place Portage
Rue Eddy Bridge is past Le Breton and the War Museum, over Chaudierre Island
Champlain Bridgeis the westernmost and upstream which is continuation of Island Parkway from The Queensway (417) past Sir John A. Macdonald Parkway, Bate Island and into a T , that is Aylmer Drive, turn right take you to AlenanderTache Drive and entry to the Gatineau Park

regular visits

Canadian Museum of History was named Museum of Civilisation, but the iconic building complex remain Douglas Cardinal's masterpiece.
From outside or inside, there are aspects that take the breath away, the exhibits are absorbing.
On my last visit, the Morningstar painted by Alex Janvier and his son in 1993, all aptly explained in video and text
