Sterkfontein Caves and Mrs Ples

Visited Sterkfontein Caves often as a kid, significance escaped me
Then had many picnics in the Magaliesberg area too,
lived just north ofthe Magaliesberg range
Then on one of my visits to the Cultural Museum in Pretoria,
read about an excursion to Magaliesberg to see Rock Engravings,
here began a friendship with a few Archaeologist and others in the
creation of Maropeng
But my student days at Wits, I knew of Prof Errol Tobias,
the Bernard Price Institue of Palaeontology and more,
it is now The Origins centre on the Wits West Campus

Maropeng
