the starting point of a new Journey of Life

Once my well priced airticket was booked to St Jean Pied du Port is about two hours west of Lourdes if the train is on a straight line.
After arriving by train from Lourdes via Bayonne, i followed other Pilgrims / Perigrinos / Hikers about 700m to the L’Esprit du Chemin Refuge / Hostel. Once checked into the Refuge /Albergue /Hstel managed by Arno and Huberta, the founders and hospitaleros.
The frst stamps in my Credntial at the Pilgrims Office, immediately opposite.
Had a short stroll, back to the courtyard of he Refuge, then dinner and bed

Day 2 Sept 10th, 2009

After breakfast, meet up with Pilgrim Jackie, also from Canada and begin a latish start, as we will be spending our first night at the Refuge Orisson, A short but steepish walk, but a fine start of slowly slowly as it will be abouy 78o kms to Santiago de Cpmpostela adn another 90kms to Fisterra on the Atlantic and another 25 to Muxia

Pros and Cons

Pros:smal quaint town to begin the Camino
Cons:should have spent 2 to 3 nights
In a nutshell:Could not have had a better staring point

The Camino is on my wish-list for quite some time now... 566 austrians in that year,but it could have been 567 !!!
