... Just coincidence | Three chedi of Wat Arun by ukirsari |
Bangkok becomes my “coincidence” place of visit. Mostly of them caused by duties. Stop-over at the capital city of the Kingdom of Thailand before my departure to Chonburi, Pattaya for covers motorsport events at Prince Bira Circuit. First time I landed at Bangkok with family. A year after “Operation Woyla”, an Indonesian Commando to freeing the passengers from the hijacked Garuda DC-9 at Don Mueang (March 31, 1981). I was so worry to hear my Dad’s explanation to stop for awhile at this airport. But my Mum gave encouragement words, something that mirroring mother’s feeling to her children. “Don’t you worry about it, Hunney. Just say a pray and anything will doing fine.” Yes, I learn about resignation from her. Then optimistic in other way. Myself today, not so far from her beliefs about me. Then about Bangkok itself, I addresses her as a "shelter" before my next destination.
When I was teenager, my opinion about Bangkok inspiring by RUSH --my fave hard rock band from Canada. This trio telling me by the title " A passage to Bangkok". About experience using train to visit this city and 'burn the midnight oil'. After that, a classical movie 'The King and I' (Yul Brynner) and a modern one 'Bangkok Hilton' (Nicole Kidman).
Now speaking about my newest experience in Bangkok. After Woyla, A Passage to Bangkok, The King and I, Bangkok Hilton and a shelter, finally I found I'm totally free to explore Bangkok for a vacation. Nice. Even the case "shelter" still happened, because I stop-over at Bangkok before continuing my trip to Cambodia. I spent my whole day to visit many "klong" (canals) and I know since then, why this "City of Angels" called as "Venice from the East". |
| | Last year Beckham, this year ... Pirates! I underlining 2 things about Bangkok (Thailand) : First, I saw Thailand has a bit similarity with Bali (an island in my country) according to their temples. Temples are everywhere and so colorful, dominated by gold, red also many bright colors. Second, Thai lingo and their own characters. Appears everywhere. Last year, I just can notice David Beckham and the "Castrol" oil from a billboard, and didn't know how to rea the article. Then this year, I saw Pirates of the Carribean --my faves Orlando Bloom and Johnny Deep were main roles in this movie :) -- once again, with Thai characters as translator. Nice, but I can not read "based on a story from Walt Disney", etc, etc .... because ALL using Thai characters :) The same case happened at BTS stations, so I just can see mark Wahlberg then thinking by myself "Oww, it must be The Italian Job" :) |
Klong, klong, along the klongs :) I just can say, "I'm sorry Mum (about my skin getting darker)". Since my daily activity here is ... and the most I love is ... going along the klong. No matter about the bottom of the river, the wind, rainy season and how long I go. I just enjoy to be here and forgot my skin getting darker and darker again :) | | | @rie at Bangkok klong by Gita |
