Pramusaji meletakkan hidangan ‘Old Fashion’ itu di atas meja marmer depan saya. Sepiring nasi pulen dengan lauk potongan-potongan daging sapi serta kentang, disiram kuah kecokelatan. Ditambah sejumput rajangan daun kol kukus bumbu acar. Nama menu ini, ‘Beef Stewed Rice’.

Citarasanya, hmm sedap! Paduan empuknya daging dalam gelimang kuah mirip semur perlahan melenyapkan rasa lapar setelah seharian keliling Kota Kinabalu atau biasa disebut ‘KK’. Sekaligus mengingatkan saya pada masakan Eyang Putri. Satu hidangan yang disebut beliau ‘Masakan jaman perang kesukaan Eyang Kakungmu’.

the text above is about the excerption of my recent article in an indonesian women magazine, published national wide on last april 2008.

speaking about a cozy corner in the heart of kotakinabalu city called australia place. a piece of land where australian soldiers made campsite in the world war II and introduce a westerner culinary recipe called 'beef stewed rice' which is so popular ever since. including to my grand parents who came from old generation.

kota kinabalu can be said as the entrance gate to several destinations, especially nature related, such as danum valley and tunku abdul rahman marine park.

Pros and Cons

In a nutshell:sweating but nice city!
