the way locals talk, sometimes make travelers or foreigners misunderstood. this is angry way or ask you something in high tone? but the real is only local accents from the batak's tribe who live within the city.
actually they're nice. only the way of talking or greetings. do not make this stop your plan to enjoy the city. especially for the food and old buildings.

al mashun mosque [the black dome mosque] and maimoon palace plus old quarter of kesawan square are nice for wandering around. also sending a message how medan looks like in the past, whenever colonial government still exist in sumatra and take medan as capital city in the north.
now, medan stated as provincional city of northern part of sumatra. also becomes one of the gateways to enter my country from sea in the northern part of indonesia archipleago. the others are sabang [pulau weh] in nangroe aceh darussalaam and tanjung pinang and dumai in riau archipelago.

after spending days in medan, we can take a bus to visit some places within north sumatra province. such as berastagi [nice scenery] and ex-vulcanic crater lake toba with samosir island in the centre. i will put info and tips about samosir in another page entitled "samosir island". please feel free to visit anytime :)
