"A Great City Park" Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park by paulscuba

Quick Stop Before we get on the road

After a day of driving we stopped at Kennesaw for the night. Didn't realize it at the time but there is a National Military park not more than 3 miles or so from the highway.

Before we hit the road we decided to check out the park. The drive up to the summit in the park was closed that day. I think due to thunderstorms but there could have been another reason. Even if we had gone up we would have seen clouds and not much else. The Park itself is not like some military parks with lots of monuments. It has a few monuments but the thing I noticed about it was that the town uses it like a city park. We saw many people doing morning walks/hikes on it's trails. Dogs are even allowed on these unpaved trails which is unusual for a National Military Park.

Its a good place for a morning run and a little history if you are in the area for some reason. The park is part of the series of battles fought by Sherman and Johnston to capture Atlanta preceding Shermans March to the Sea.
