"This Town Gives Me The Willies." Hiawatha by fraise

...but don't let that stop you, or anything.

When my grandmother was alive (and even now that she's not), our family makes an annual pilgrimage to Hiawatha, to decorate graves. After that, we head over to the Dairy Queen, use their facilities, get a sundae, then get the 'H' outta town. It scared me then, and still does...yet it's become more of a cheap thrill...in a really scary Stephen King-ish kind of way.

The Man (and Wife) of Stone

Read my scintillating review, and learn about John Milburn Davis, who literally undertook a truly monumental task by paying tribute to his wife, Sarah.

The place that time forgot.

Or maybe it just seems that way.

If you drive on Oregon Street, you might even see this very clock-tower-thingy...or not. (Whatever).

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:not too far from Kansas City
  • Cons:too far to walk from Kansas City
  • In a nutshell:Retro chic with a midwestern gothic, neo-depressioneque sort of feel.
