We snapped this photo while we were eating dinner at Hotel Moloka‘i's oceanfront restaurant. With the live music, cool ocean breeze, good food and drink, and this awesome view, it made for one of the most memorable evenings of all our trips to the islands. They call Moloka‘i The most Hawaiian Island. It certainly is quiet and peaceful here and has the quaint charm of a small, rural, southern US town. The island is only 38 miles long and 10 miles wide. A couple of those 'amazing facts' of the island that really stick out are that there are no traffic lights or any buildings with elevators on the entire island. You'll find the roads empty and most southern or eastern side beaches to yourself at many times during the day. The island is small enough that you can drive the entire length of it and stop to explore in less than a day. And while you're on the eastern half be sure to stop at the Neighborhood Store right on the main road. Its the last store you'll come across as you head towards Halawa Valley. If you're looking for general tips on planning your trip and just getting to the Hawaiian Islands, please go to my main Hawaii Page . And do not forget to look at my Moloka‘i Travelogues here and here.

| | Here I am videotaping our muleride descending the switchbacks that lace the highest seacliffs in the world on Moloka`i's north shore. This is one of the more popular activities on the island and is the sole reason we came here. Its a full day activity and well worth it. . . . . . . . . . . .

| | This B&B on Moloka`i is now defunct. That is most unfortunate since it was truly a house in paradise. |
