Here's the Golden Gate Bridge with Alcatraz and San Francisco in the background. We snapped this photo from an overlook that was a sentry station during WWII used to guard the bay in the event of an invasion by the Japanese. The gunmounts and connecting tunnels are still there. Rather than create a separate page for each city we visited, I have simply lumped everything we did into one California page. From San Francisco down to Monterey to Big Sur and then over to Yosemite National Park. |

So true about the $8.00 on the 17 mile drive. Although I've heard that you can get reimbursed if you eat somewhere on the route. So many free places with equally good views in the area. | truus_s Sat Oct 19, 2002 08:11 UTC
