Here you can see the aerial view looking east of Neustadt (left) and Altstadt (right) Dresden, from 1932. I choosed this picture because I wanna show you "the old Dresden" before a lot of these old beautiful buildings are destroyed during the 2 nd world war. Dresden is also called "Florence of the North".I live and study in Dresden since 1998. It´s a beautiful town with a wonderful landscape around ( Sächsische Schweiz ) and I can recommend everybody to make a trip to Dresden. I promise - you would not be disappointed! Frauenkirche / Church of Women This is my actually pic from the popular Frauenkirche. The church was destroyed during the second world war - on 13 th february 1945. Every year on this date all bells of all churches in Dresden ring for half an hour. This pic was taken in September 2004. The end of reconstruction of the church should be in the next two years. |
