Since my mother has lived in Greece for 7 years and still speaks greek almost fluently, I'am very attracted to this country. I already have been ons several islands, e.g Zakynthos, Karpathos, Samos, Santorini, Kos and Kreta. Kreta is the biggest island and worldfame because of the remainings of the palace Knossos found by Heinrich Schliessman. Next to this amazing site there is the samaria kloof, a kilometres long crack in the earth which you can walk trough, make sure you have the right shoes (ladies forget the stilletos :), spinalonga, the lepracolonie which is based on a former fortress. For more info see: http://www.forthnet.gr/internetc ity/miss/miss-spin.htm It is situated at the coast at Elounda, direction Agios Nikolaos. Make sure you get of the Beaten Path because there you'll actually see the remains of people who have lived there last days there. Then there's the lassithi plateau which helds the cave of Zeus and 1001 windmills. Among beautifull things to see, Kreta, Kriti for greek, has lots to offer at night. Especially Herchonnisos! Lots of bars, pubs and disco's to party all night. On to remember is the Camelot and New York. Start in New York on the boulevard. It has an fantastic view on the ocean. Around 11 it's getting crowded and 5 minuts walk will take you to the Camelot. Only go there after 1 otherwise you'll be the first. Planning a trip and still have some questions, just let me know.
This picture is taken in Koutalafari which is a small village in the mountains just outside Hersonnisos. Here you'll find traditional food for a very good price. Also for those who want to rent scooters, better go here, sometimes rates are 50% cheaper, that's easy money! |
