I've been to many parts of Japan, and Hokkaido is my favourite. Was there first week of October 2001. Late fall. Highly recommend Otaru (seafood), Shakotan Peninsula (sea views), Sounkyo (mountains, flowers), Noberibetsu (volcanoes, hotsprings), Biei (flowers), Hakodate (seafood). Lots of seafood!

Get close-up to active volcanoes and lots of hot springs right next to the volcanoes.
