Phuket butterfly garden is a must if you like butterflies. Although not the best butterfly house I have been to, there were still some lovely ones there. There is also a butterfly house at Phuket zoo.

If you have never been to a transvestite show then you must go to Simon Cabaret if you visit Phuket. All the show is mimed but the costumes are good and on the whole the show is entertaining. You will be amazed by the Lady boys here and can pose with them for a photograph-for a price!

Along from the se gypsy village is Rawai beach and although not great for swimming because of all the fishing activity, it is a lovely beach. There are boats that will take you out to the small off shore islands for parasailing and other water sports, and it is quieter that the main beach areas of Patong, Karon and Kata

We hired a taxi for about 4-5 hours, which I think cost about 600baht for 4 people. We just told our driver the route we wanted to take and where we wanted to stop. One of our stops was at a sea gypsy village near Rawai in the south of the island. The village is made up of primitive style huts but the people are friendly and don’t seem to mind the intrusion from tourists. As it is a working village there were many locals selling their catch of the day

When I first saw the posters for FantaSea, I thought-wow got to go there, and I did. Although the show was entertaining, I felt that it was all a bit plasticky and not what you would expect in Thailand. As you go into the palace of the elephants you can have your photo taken with a baby tiger or an elephant or two. Be warned you have to give your camera in-there is no photography allowed. However, it is secure and your camera is placed in a bag and you are given a numbered colour coded token to collect your camera after the show. It was well organised and you could collect your camera and any photographs you may have had taken without too much waiting The kids will love it!

Koh Panyi is a Muslim fishing village built on stilts next to a limestone mountain. Most tours to Phang Nga bay stop here for lunch at one of several restaurants. It is worth taking a walk round the village and see the way of life of some of the locals and some of the pets they keep. It is possible to go into the mosque provided that you dressed properly and it is not time for prayers. When all the tourist have left, the restaurants are shut up and the village returns to its normal peace and quiet and the daily routines of fishing continue.
