Pulau Langkawi

Peaceful Langkawi

Symbol of Langkawi
Langkawi is the major island of a group of 99-apparently this increases to 104 at some low tides.
Langkawi is on the west coast of peninsular Malaysia between Penang and Phuket and just south of the Thai border.

There is an emphasis on eco-tourism and the island is still very natural and unspoiled. You will find little evidence of loud discos and nightclubs. If you like a lively holiday then Langkawi is not the place for you-this is a place where you can chill out big style!!.

Shopping

Langkawi has the added bonus of being a duty free island and things are really cheap here.
You wont find the usual amount of fakes like in Bangkok or Kuala Lumpur, but you will get good bargains on camera, electronics, clothes, alcohol, chocolate and if you want cigarettes.
I have recently returned from spending two weeks on Langkawi. The peacefulness of Langkawi was very welcome after the hustle and bustle of Kuala Lumpur.

The local people were very friendly and willing to talk to us and to share a part of their life and experiences with us.

The weather whilst we were there was very mixed ranging from blazing sunshine to torrential rain, it was warm rain though unlike the UK.
The rain however did not dampen our spirits or our enjoyment of the holiday and we had a brilliant time there.

Visited this restaurant with my Grandma in 2005 and couldn't remember the name - so thank you for the photo which confirmed this is it! The food was fabulous and I will definitely revisit next month when I return.
